| Is Magic epicanthoplasty different from the conventional operations in terms of its effects?
Currently existing other surgeries are operated by various methods such as simple excision (Hiraga's method) and the z-plasty. However, they all belong to the same category in that the surgeons eliminate a partial skin of the Mogolian fold and suture each side. As a result, a scar after surgery or an effect may be remained. When the Mongolian fold is severe, the surgical line also becomes larger, and a scar can be easily detected. Magic epicanthoplasty(Kwon's method), through the careful study of the Mongolian fold, is a new concept of surgery that releases the tight bands and leads the skin to be redistributed spontaneously by itself without further surgical manipulations. In the respect of the effects and reuslts, it can extend the width up to 3mm each (if one has severe degree of Mongolian folds,) and can also lengthen the inner corner of your eyes with exposing your double eyelid line. A great advantage of Magic epicanthoplasty is that the scar is not remained on the region sutured. Besides, this operation is not a method of excision. It is rather accomplished by rearranging the skin without a surgical excision, so there is no need to feel drawn back and tensed about a remaining scar. That is, of course, a scar is necessarily made by a suture tension but, the problem of a scar is solved through considering the tension of skin as possible.
What are the differences between Magic epicanthoplasty and existing surgeries in detail?
Characteristics of the Magic epicanthoplasty
1. In Magic epicanthoplasty, surgical region is not visible and it is hidden, so a scar is hardly seen after removal of the stitches. The scars are not visible after 5 days of the removal of stitches. 2. With a new concept that’s different from the existing methods, it is unnecessary to worry about a scar. This surgery can also remove Mongolian folds at the same time. In conventional methods, a scar lasts longer by the removal of skin in the Mongolian folds and the scar will be unavoidable. However, Magic epicanthoplasty, is not a method by excision and suturing the skin, but a method incision and rearranging the skin by itself which can create desirable eyes. 3. After the Magic epicanthoplasty, it is unnecessary to worry about your eyes becoming sharper or pointing downward. In Teuim plastic surgery, we perform it by making the corner of your eyes direct in a comfortable horizontal angle, with the consideration of the overall inclination of eyes. 4. Extreme carefulness and operational skills are needed to operate the surgery. We must prudently consider the proper skin tension condition of a patient at surgery. We do not perform the same operation to all patients. We must consider the shapes of the double eyelid line or expression of eyes a person wants to obtain. The correlation between the nose and eyes, direction and severity of Mongolian folds are applied for the most proper method to the individual's eyes to make best result as the most suitable way for the patient. That is why the surgery takes roughly an hour.
The aesthetic effect of the Magic epicanthoplasty 1. Through a certain extension of the width of eyes (possible to extend 3mm depending on the Mongolian fold) and the length of the corner part of the eyes, the eyes look more clear and prominent.
2. By restoring the intercanthal distance, the impression changes from stuffy images to clear images.
3. The asymmetry of the eyes caused by the difference of the Mongolian fold is improved.
4. Exposing white part of eyes in the inner corner of your eyes makes the pupil look like it’s in the middle. This makes the eyes look much more refined (improvement for a condition of pseudostrabismus, pseudoestropia)
5. By removing the Mongolian folds inclined in the inner corner of the eyes, the overall inclination of the eye turned out much more reduced.
6.Reinforcing effect of Magic epicanthoplasty over love-bands(a thickened portion on lower eyelid margin). They become prominent after Magic epicanthoplasty even without any procedure.
7. Mongolian folds can cause formation of fine wrinkles and pigmentations under the eyes. Magic epicanthoplasty has an effect on these phenomena by releasing tensions at the head of eye region
8. When a double eyelid is accompanied with a Mongolian fold, it shows an in-folder line, showing the outside line only because the line is cut by the Mongolian fold. After Magic epicanthoplasty, the shapes have changed to in-out- or out-folder types of double eyelid.
9. Unnatural out-folder line and acutely bended double eyelid lines which were caused by Mongolian folds is improved.
10.Improvement of eyelash prickling (entropion).
