Cases of fading double eyelids and Mongolian folds.
Although the fading of double eyelid is undesirable, it may occur after some period of time.
Example) Getting loose or fading of lines after inappropriate double eyelid surgeries
Example) Cases where both the double eyelid surgery and epicanthoplasty are needed.
Example) A case of only the double eyelid surgery performed without the removal of severe Mongolian folds : This picture shows a case where the Mongolian fold of the left eye is more severe than the right. The right eye looks unnatural because it forms an out-folder starting from the epicanthal region with the Mongolian fold still remaining. Because of this, the double eyelid line of the right eye looks like it will soon fade away from the point of the epicanthal angle(corner). The line is likely to get loose gradually. The left eye forms an in-folder with the overlying Mongolian fold. A lowered and covered line like the one you see on left eye is usually formed in double eyelid surgery if proper epicanthoplasty is not followed.
Example) The lines after non-incisional surgery only results in in-folder type eyes(above).
example) Combination of Magic epicanthoplasty and revisional double eyelid srgery. If an out-folder line is created without improving the Mongolian fold, the double eyelid line will The lines like the above seem very unnatural. A line created by the double eyelid surgery provides a clear and natural appearance on proper physical conditions, while providing unnatural appearance on the poor conditions such as co-existing severe Mongolian fold. When Mongolian folds are severe and the actual eyeline is covered by the eyelid skin, the structural double eyelid surgery including proper surgical technique should be performed to create beautiful and admirable eyes.

How and why has epicanthoplasty become a universal trend ?
Seven years ago (2004), only a few patients knew about the epicanthoplasty
Until now, most people are regarding epicanthoplasy as a kind of meagerly effective surgery for just the lengthening of eyes by cutting a little amount of skin of the epicanthal area, similar to the lateral canthoplasty. These thoughts might have been delivered from the results and the opinions of previously existing surgical methods.
Furthermore, there have been many physicians performing those surgeries as if they were a long-established tradition. Reasons for being negative about epicanthoplasty are still a matter of issue due to conventional surgical methods.
Mongolian folds are categorized into four types according to its severity. When one has a severe type of Mongolian fold, the larger the surgical line and the more unnatural the results become.
Also, if someone cares about the surgical scar too much, one occasionally tends to complain. That is, when people takes surgery by an already existing method, a scar may be visible and many of them try to avoid minimize or fix it.
Although the recognition about epicanthoplasty has changed positively by the new Magic epicanthoplasty, epicanthoplasty was in out of interest for plastic surgeons.
However, they eventually found out that there was no solution for that because the Mongolian fold was the sole reason for the problem. Plastic surgery on the nose will only make an optical illusion and seem as if the intercanthal distance is narrowed, when it really doesn’t make any difference.
